ED in a Nutshell

Ed is the brainchild of Dane Barbo. With the phenomenal growth of the local music scene Dane decided it was time to take a break from his current band situation and create an upstart group featuring modern pop and metal combined with old-school punk. The result is the Corning based power-punk trio called ED.

Naming the band was a no-brainer for Dane who chose to honor his best pal, his 20 year old black lab, ED. Finding suitable talent was another story. Dane knew plenty of musicians but demanded three major components as the essential ingredients. 1. They had to be in High-School, 2. They had to have compatible musical interests & 3. They had to be willing to practice (a lot!)

Trevor (T-Bor) Thompson from Los Molinos High had known Dane for a few years as his parents were friends with Dane’s. He played Sax in the School band and had recently taken up the Bass. With all three essential attributes Dane knew he would be a perfect fit for ED. Dane and T-Bor started jammin’ regularly and began their search for a Guitarist.

Enter Rein Tice. Rein had recently moved to Corning from Vacaville and like T-Bor was a Sax player in his School band. He was a solid guitarist and quickly displayed his ability to learn ED’s music.

Together these three encompass what is missing from today's music scene. Young musicians with the drive and ability to compose music that will make the experienced bands take notice. They are ED.

ED News

Jan. 31st, 2007 - Hello again ED fans. Guess I spoke too soon with my last update. As you read this CFM is in the process of finalizing production of the "Marionette" disc and looking at a tour for our favorite band. Sorry for doubting you CFM. Keep the ball rollin'. Look for ED locally in the near future. I'll keep you posted. On a sad note the ED MySpace site was yanked for some reason after 30,000 plus hits. MySpace had no explanation. The boys have a new MySpace site up and running so please help build it up. Thanks for supporting ED. The boys recently returned from the Rogue Valley Battle of the Bands in Ashland with the Bronze. They were one of five bands selected to play from more than a hundred entries. Good Job. Look for ED at the Soda Shop in Orland on Saturday the 3rd with The Inquisition and Saving Discretion. Also catch Dane at Marco's on Saturday the 10th in an acoustic show with his Dad. I'm sure there will be more to report between now and March 23rd but it is a date worth mentioning. ED will be performing in a benifit show for the Rodger's Theater in Corning. Sharing the stage with ED on that night will be the aformentioned band The Inquisition as well as San Diego bands Dirty Sweet and Transfer. The latter features Corning transplants Matt Molarius and Jason Cardenas. These guys have been rock'n since the early 90's. Remember Ten Pound Brown? Should be an awesome time for everyone. Filling in the changeover times will be Maywood phenom Derek King. The bands are playin' for free so come out and buy some merch to give 'em some gas money. Be sure to light a candle on Feb. 8th, ED the dog turns 24 that day. Thanks for being the greatest fans in the World. Til next time.....
